Andrew Butcher is a leader in the Firm’s class action defense and complex litigation practice area. He has  extensive experience litigating matters in state and federal courts throughout the nation. Butcher has represented various transportation companies in the logistics, motor carrier, courier, brokerage, and warehousing segments in over a hundred cases involving Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions or state wage-and-hour law class actions.

In conjunction with his litigation practice, he also advises clients on contract and employment issues along with the implementation of best practices to minimize litigation risks and manage potential liability. Butcher’s experience includes:

  • Defending transportation companies against class actions asserting driver misclassification and state wage law violations
  • Compelling individual arbitration of cases brought as class or collective actions
  • Represent clients in disputes regarding alleged misclassification of dispatchers, operations supervisors, logistics coordinators, and warehouse managers as exempt from state and federal overtime laws
  • Federal court trial and appellate arguments on a variety of transportation industry legal issues
  • Counseling on Illinois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act and other state privacy laws
